NYC Announce New Manager
The formative years of the New York City FC were spent working on basics – the team's gradual growth and expanding of the brand. Since NYC FC was taken over by the new manager Kristaps Zvirbulis there has been a lot of talk between the club's fans about the future of the team. In his first press conference he announced that he has a full backing of the team owners and he will bring in the players that in his mind could do the job the board has asked of him – finish in comfortable mid table position. The news about the managers plans left the fans scratching their heads in confusion as the team has been on a steady pace to become better year by year.
The new manager had to go to work from day one to make the best out his plans for his new team. Between looking to sign the new players, Kristaps Zvirbulis had to manage his money wisely as the promised transfer funds were not enough to add all the targeted players. Main goals for the first transfer market were upgrades in defense and midfield where Zvirbulis thought they lack the talent. Among the arrivals to strengthen these two areas were Marco Parolo (from Lazio), Ragnar Klavan (Liverpool), Armando Izzo (Genoa), Joel Ward (Crystal Palace) and Vincent Pajot (Saint-Etienne).
With the limited funds available for transfers Zvirbulis made a decision to sell two of the teams most known players Andrea Pirlo and David Villa, who both decided to join River Plate. With the leaving of Villa and some missed opportunities in transfer market the team has become 2 man thin up front and have raised some questions about where will the goals come from.
One of the happier facts about the new manager for the supporters was his will to bring the younger guys in first squad and give them the chance to compete for playing time. With a view to the future followed singings of Zidane (from Real Madrid), Calero (Pachuca), Bielik (Arsenal) and Fonseca (Porto) among others.
As it was mentioned the New York City FC goal is to finish in a comfortable mid table position and keep the work of previous manager intact and oversee teams growth on yearly basis.
