Marinos' Transfer Strategy

MARINOS manager THUMBS UP sat with Japanese leading sporting media Ming-Chun to detail the transfer strategy behind the curtains.

For a period the mighty Japanese club YOKOHAMA MARINOS were in shell shock when their manager was hospitalised and was informed for the best of his health he had to quit anything stressful for at least 8 months.

With the new season starting soon and no one to lead the club the most unexpected and pleasant thing happened to the club – after numerous advances and rejecting any post at NWO, SM's experienced manager, a man who doesn’t mince his words, a manager with staggering 263 winning trophies to his SM career was appointed as the manager. Yes, THUMBS UP was unveiled as the manager of Yokohama F. Marinos!

The aim of the manager was to get in at least two highly rated players to the club and then build the club around them with whatever would have been left.

Belotti and Van Dijk were contacted immediately and a positive conversation took place. Until div 1 big shots Al Hilal came to the scene and snatched Belotti for a staggering 40m.

Anyway the second target Van Dijk was still expected at the club but a 23rd hour bid from another club saw the whole strategy fall part.

But THUMBS UP never panicked. He immediately set a meeting to discuss how to take the club forward. In the meeting the personnel involved were – TU, TU’s experience and TU’s brain.

Soon a new strategy was chalked up whereby the thinking was what, what if the Marinos fail to remain in the div 1? Then we will not be able to sign anyone above 90 and worse the club might struggle to get back to div 1 for a long time.

Hence keeping the worst in mind a team was built that even if we get relegated we will be in a good shout to get back to div 1 before div 4 and div 5 clubs start their dominance. This saw the manager buy few older players that TU usually doesn’t buy.

When it was put forward to his reply was instant, “Its not about me its about the club. Look we lost out on every young player we bid and I did not even bid on others because I couldn’t compete with the fees that were circling around. But look at this was my older players already have families and babies and the babies will be admitted to our youth program.” With this TU took out a very rare black box and inside them was even rarer Cuban cigars that you would only see Fidel Castro smoking.
