Barcelona 2 - 3 Chelsea

Chelsea showed that this season may not be completely dead in the water following the removal of the previous manger, who was unceremoniously dumped by the club just before the start of the season after showing that English needed to be at least his second language as it would help him understand the rules. New Manager Gordon Christopher has had a huge task on his hands to sort through the squad and start to get some semblance of order into them, but the process is apparently working with a stunning 3-2 defeat of Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

In front of a crowd of over 82,000 screaming Spanish fans, a Messi MOTM performance was not enough to get something from the game and with the greatest respect to Messi it is difficult to understand how he got the MOTM award over the newly appointed Chelsea Captain Tiemoue Bakayoko, who scored 2 goals and drove the midfield forward to be the architect of the victory. Costa and Hazard were outstanding for the visitors and Manager Christopher declared himself very pleased with the result.

"Today we played with commitment and concentration and showed the quality that we have in the team" he said. "Tiemoue was brilliant in midfield and will continue to grow into his role as Captain. Now we must turn our gaze to Old Trafford where I am sure Rob Ryan will do his best to stop getting back to back wins. We are starting to take shape and while there will be stumbles along the way, as there always are, we are firmly committed to making sure our great supporters enjoy the season."
